The House of the God of All Moves, Paul Daubenmire |
|
Due to various circumstances while growing up, my family relocated quite regularly. With almost twenty moves before graduating from high school, I was more than accustomed to a migratory lifestyle. Though often not knowing when or where our next relocation would be, as a Christian, I developed three constants in my life to which I could continually turn and in which I found much solace: my family, a love for learning, and the local churches. While our relocations traversed three continents, I found myself developing a passion for the pursuit of education. Both of my humanly balanced parents obtained doctoral degrees in their 40's while raising three children, and their pattern was a healthy one for me. I surely emulated their persevering diligence in my academic studies, which characterized my teenage years. Yet even as I moved from country to country and state to state, I was also blessed to find myself meeting with the local church in whatever city I was in. I had found the house of the God of all moves. Though having met with believers in different countries using many different languages, I found that the oneness and testimony in each local church resonated with the Christ that I had received into my spirit at a young age. Thus, when I matriculated at a college on the east coast over six hundred miles away from parents and home, I felt supremely comfortable meeting with the believers in that city, receiving them as my own family. For my spiritual growth, I was encouraged to read through First Corinthians in a regular, daily way in preparation for a Bible training (seminar) by Witness Lee over my winter break. Not only did I thoroughly enjoy this edifying pursuit, but I also began to see my spiritual family as the church and the Body of Christ. My testimony with the local church is that I have found my heavenly family, my spiritual educational pursuit, and my Savior God. |
